HAWAI'I POST® - FUTURE ISSUES

A lot of interest has been generated since the first issue of stamps on June 13 2000. Hawai'i Post will be issuing several different stamps throughout each year. Each issue will have an Official First Day Cover with a special cachet and postmark.

Please note that dates and topics are subject to change without notice.
Planned issues for the year 2007:

None. CLICK HERE for reason why.

Planned issues for the year 2008:

February 7. Chinese New Year. The year of the Rat.

February 12. 125th Anniversary of the Coronation of King Kalakaua and Queen Kapi'olani.

Bicentenary of the establishment of Honolulu as the capital of O'ahu. King Kamehameha moved the capital from Waikiki to Kou - the former name of Honolulu in 1808.

150th Anniversary of the Annexation of Johnston Island by the Kingdom of Hawai'i. Lying 825 miles southwest of Honolulu, the atoll of Johnston Island was taken over by the U.S. Air Force in 1948 for high-altitude nuclear bomb tests in the 1950's until the 1960's. In the late 1980's, it became a chemical weapons waste disposal site, until 2000. To-day it is a National Wildlife Refuge managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It has an airstrip used by the airline Continental Air Micronesia, but passengers are not allowed to disembark there without permission as the island is currently closed to the public.

April 21. 60th Anniversary of the S.S. Lurline's first postwar arrival in Honolulu Harbor, signifying the rebirth of Tourism after WWII.

August 16. 125th Anniversary of the first Hawaiian Telephone.

Centenary of the completion of the Diamond Head trail and lookout by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Planned issues for the year 2009:

50th Anniversary of Hawai'i Statehood.

Several topical issues are also planned, including:
Endangered species of Hawai'i.
Extinct flora and fauna of Hawai'i.
Royal Jewelry of the Kingdom of Hawai'i.
The Hula.
Golf Courses.
Hawaiian Transportation.
Leis and Hakuleis.
Hawaiian Military Uniforms.
O'ahu scenes.
Waikiki, then and now.
Shipwrecks off the coast of Hawai'i.
Hawaiian Arts and Crafts.

Our conservative issuing policy is as follows:

1. All stamps will be directly related to Hawai'i.

2. We do not issue definitive stamps, so several commemorative issues will be released throughout each year .

3. Denominations on the stamps will reflect the actual cost of the services provided by Hawai'i Post.

4. We will avoid overprinting stamps whenever possible.
